The Fortitude Music Hall Bringing Brisbane’s music scene back to life

The Fortitude Music Hall (FMH) opened its doors on Friday 26 July with a celebration of Queensland music. Australia’s largest ballroom/theatre styled venue, with a 3,000-person standing capacity and an 1,100 seated capacity. FMH is the first dedicated music performance space of its size in Central Brisbane, since the closure of the famous Festival Hall in 2003.

VAE Group are privileged to have been a part of the construction of this iconic Brisbane music venue, completing the mechanical services for the project.

Chillers, cooling tower and AHU’s were refurbished and re-used with an additional new VRF plant added for spot cooling foyers and bars. All new air distribution, smoke exhausts, controls and mechanical/electrical equipment was installed throughout the building.

The new venue is the result of a partnership between Scott Hutchinson (Hutchinson Builders), John Collins (‘JC’ from Powderfinger), and Paul Piticco (best known for his work on Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival).

Financial Review quoted Scott Hutchinson:

“Hutchinson – who is more used to building office buildings and apartments blocks – said it might not be a great financial investment, but bankrolling the city's newest live venue, the Fortitude Music Hall, could be his greatest legacy to his hometown”.
