Greenslopes Private Hospital Expansion Project

Congratulations to the VAE project team, and all involved, on the Practical Completion of the $52 million Greenslopes Private Hospital (GPH) Expansion.

Following the successful completion of multiple hospital projects with John Holland Group (JHG), VAE were awarded the mechanical services for the GPH Expansion project.

The project involved multiple major build areas on the existing Pre-World War II hospital site including a new four storey infill building, new two level Ward Building and several refurbished areas.

The new infill building, located next to the current administration building, comprised three new Operating Theatres (OT’s) increasing the OT capacity to 23, and increasing the intensive care (ICU) bed capacity.

Major refurbishments involved conversion of an existing operating theatre to a large hybrid theatre and a major upgrade to Centralised Sterile Services Department (CSSD) and Emergency Departments (ED).

The mechanical scope of works comprised the supply and installation of five air-cooled chillers and associated chilled water (CHW) infrastructure, 20 Air Handling Units (AHU), miscellaneous packaged Air Conditioning Units and ventilation systems.

As the existing Emergency Department required a major upgrade the existing AHUs were replaced following careful preplanning and stakeholder engagement to ensure minimal disruption to hospital operations.
